Budapest in general is one of the most underrated cities in all of Europe. The bang-for-your-buck value here is considerable. One could live like a King/Queen and still not be strapped for cash. There’s a ton of cultural crossover from its many periods of being conquered by other countries. The outdoor spas in Budapest are world-renowned — as are the views from Buda Castle (overlooking the entire city). If Vlad the Impaler is of interest, Budapest also offers a labyrinth where he was once held hundreds of years ago. Also, be sure to have some pálinka (plum liqueur) and goulash (soup) whilst in Hungary.
