Albeit one of the most polarizing figures in sports history, there is no debating the significance of Lance Armstrong’s comeback. Armstrong made a name for himself on the cycling scene with victories in Europe starting at the age of 22. In 1996, Armstrong was diagnosed with a life-threatening form of testicular cancer. Coinciding with his recovery, Armstrong founded the Livestrong Foundation in an effort to assist other cancer survivors. Armstrong made his return to cycling and dominated the landscape. Starting in 1999, Armstrong won seven Tour De France titles. While he has since been stripped of his victories due to his use of PEDs, Armstrong’s comeback and Foundation have left a lasting impact on the world.
