The city of New Orleans may never get over this blown call. Facing a 3rd and 10, the Saints decided to go for the Rams’ jugular. A first down on this play would have essentially sent New Orleans to the Super Bowl. Instead, Nickell Robey-Coleman lowered the boom on Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis well before the ball arrived. No flag was thrown, the Saints settled for a field goal, and would go on to lose the game in overtime. This was a blatant pass interference. Robey-Coleman admitted as much after the game: “Oh, hell yeah. I whacked his ass.”
